Concussion Education

Concussion can occur in all sports and presents with a wide range of symptoms.  Cognitive, physiological, behavioural and sleep changes can all be a result of this type of brain injury.  In our mission to support and optimize competitive sport performance we have developed high quality and evidence based programming dedicated to Concussion Education, Prevention and Management.

Concussion Education can enhance the recognition of concussion and improve management and prevention. Athlete sessions focus on:

  • What is concussion?

  • Culture of Safety in Sport

  • Health & Performance consequences of participation while symptomatic

  • Mechanisms of Injury

  • Signs & Symptoms of concussion (early, late)

  • Most Common Symptoms

  • Who can Diagnose?

  • Return to learn/play

The minimum recommended age for the athlete presentation is 12 years of age, however sessions may be modified for younger clients.

Parachute Canada

Parachute is is "Canada's leader in injury prevention focused on three areas where people are unintentionally injured: in the home, at play, and on the move" (Parachute Canada website-about us).  A major focus area for Parachute is Concussion.  You can find more information by clicking on the link below.

Coaching Association of Canada

The CAC has developed a number of resources directed towards concussion training in sport with a focus on coaching.  Making Headway in Sport is a web based course is available for member coaches.
