Our Consultants & Service Providers

If you are a professional with a commitment towards promoting safe and healthy participation in competitive sports you may be interested in becoming a SMSCS Consultant or Service Provider.  All of our experts must complete a detailed application and screening process.  Contact our Safety Coordinator if you have questions or would like to initiate the application process.

Sunset Martial Arts

Consultants and Service Providers who would like to represent the Council must undergo a formal application and screening process.  Once completed, they are deemed "experts" within their respective Sport Science or Medicine discipline.  Each discipline has high standards for educational qualifications and experiential knowledge which is in line with The Canadian Sport Centre and other Institutes within Canada.  

Consultant & Service Provider Qualifications (minimum standard)

1

Sport Dietician

-Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition (min)

-Teaching/Presentation Experience

-One of the following: 

  • Certified Specialist in Sport Dietician (CSSD) designation

  • International Olympic Committee (IOC) Sport Nutrition Diploma

  • MSc in a field/discipline relevant to sport nutrition

-Valid Liability Insurance​

Exercise Physiologist

-Master's Degree in Science or Kinesiology or Post Graduate Diploma in Kinesiology relevant to the Sport Science or Exercise Physiology

-Teaching/Presentation experience

-Experience working with high performance athletes and be actively involved in high performance sports 

-One of the following certifications: CSCS, CSEP-CEP, ACSM-ET

-Member in one of the following: NSCA, SKESA, CSEP, ACSM

-Valid Liability Insurance

Strength & Conditioning Specialist

-Post Secondary Degree in a Health Science related field

-Teaching/Presentation Experience

-Experience working with high performance athletes and actively involved in high performance sport science.

-Must hold CSCS or CSEP-CEP designation

-Member of one of the following: NSCA, SKSEA, CSEP, ACSM

-Valid Liability Insurance

Sport Biomechanist

-Masters Degree in Science or Kinesiology

-Teaching/Presentation experience

-Experience working with high performance athletes and be actively involved in high performance sport science

-Experience with video analysis & technical skills analysis

-Valid Liability Insurance

Mental Performance Consultant

-Master's degree in Kinesiology, Science, Arts, or Education with relevance in sport psychology or sport mental skills (minimum)

-Professional membership with the Canadian Sport Psychology Association (CSPA)

-Certified Consultant with the Association of Applied Sport Psychology (AASP)

Sport Massage Therapist

-Diploma of Sport Massage Therapy through CSMTA

-Registered Massage Therapist

-Graduate of a 2200-hour curriculum based therapy school

-Licensed to practice in Saskatchewan

-Member of the CSMTA

-Experience working with high performance athletes

-Valid Liability Insurance

Sport Therapist-pathway 1

-Diploma or Certificate of Sport Physiotherapy

-Current license with the SCPT

-Member of good standing with the SPC or SPS

-Experience working with high performance athletes

-Valid Liability Insurance

Sport Therapist-pathway 2

-Certified Athletic Therapist through the CATA

-Member in good standing with the CATA and SATA

-Experience working with high performance athletes

Valid Liability Insurance

Sport Chiropractor

-Sport Science Fellowship with the Royal College of Chiropractic Sport Sciences Canada (RCCSS)

-Member in good standing with Chiropractors Association of Saskatchewan and/or RCCSS

-Licensed in the jurisdiction in which the practice

-Experience working with high performance athletes

-Valid Liability Insurance

Sport Physician

-Diploma of Sport Medicine through CASEM

-Unrestricted license in Canada and be actively practicing in Canada

-Family Practitioners must be a member in good standing with the CASEM and the SASM

-Other specialists, certified as FRCPC or FRSCS do not require a CASEM diploma

-Experience working with high performance athletes

-Valid Liability Insurance

Other Sport Medicine Service Providers

-Physicians, Physiotherapists, Athletic Therapists, Chiropractors and Registered Massage Therapists who have an interest in sport medicine and provide services on our behalf in the following areas:

  • Medical Coverage at Events

  • Initial Injury and Functional Assessment

  • Drug Education and Awareness Workshops

Other Sport Medicine Service Providers-Credentials

-Licensed in the jurisdiction where they are practicing

-Experience working with high performance athletes

-Must take an educational "in service" with the SMSCS to instruct the Drug Education and Awareness Workshop

-Valid Liability Insurance
